Not quite from the beginning

For years now I have struggled with my weight, an ironic thing because until I had children I weighed 105 pounds soaking wet--in high school I remember drinking straight cream in an attempt to gain weight. Between childbirth, the horomonal imbalances of polycystic ovarian syndrome, and stress induced overeating, I managed to get all the way up to 227 hefty pounds. My waist was an anything but petite 44 inches and my hips 52 inches around. I've been told I carry the weight well, and no one ever guessed I was over 200 pounds, but its bothered me a great deal particularly since its begun to impact my health. My blood pressure has always been fine, but my cholesterol in high and with a familial history of diabetes and heart disease, I was setting myself up for disaster. My shoulders were starting to bother me and I had nerve inpingements, my hips and low back ached all the time, and my right foot developed plantar fascitis. Most bothersome, I was starting to suffer periodic bouts of chest pain with palpitations and tacchycardia as I was falling asleep. It was time to make a lifestyle change, and all the more so because I was finally in a financial position to do this. After trying various things over the years including weight watchers, the zone, and a number of other diets, I decided to try Nutisystem. Thus far, this has been one of the best moves I could have made.

I recieved my food on the 17th of March, 2005, just after my 38th birthday. To date I have shed 14 pounds, and after the first week, it has been largely painless. My goal is to reah 125 pounds, by which time I will have shed 102 pounds--thats an entire person's worth of weight! Even at this amount, I'm feeling better emotionally, have found my resting pulse rate dropping, and best of all, am down a dress size. Instead of two chins, I'm down to 1.5, and that has made me a happy woman indeed. Portion control is coming much more easily these days, even when eating out. My son actually commented he was embarrassed when we had lunch out and I was more than happy with a salad and a side order of cottage cheese.
