One of the less desireable effects of PCOS is hirsutism--I'm sorry, but unless I was a female Yeti, I would have no great desire to grow extensive facial and body hair. I treated myself to laser hair removal and have been more than pleased with the results, though getting in touch with the office can be a challenge at times, since I need to use their answering service thanks to my schedule. When they are open, I'm either commuting home or sleeping! I think they do subscribe to business web hosting for their business though, so I'll have to check out their site and see if I can just email them for appointment requests, since that can happen at any hour.
So far the network monitoring at work hasn't blocked searches for that type of site. It blocks the strangest sites--web hosting sites, search engine marketing sites, yahoo.com (but not yahoo.ca)...go figure.
At any rate, after just one treatment, I saw a good 25% reduction in hair, and the procedure itself was not terribly uncomfortable. One side effect I was NOT expecting, however, was the swelling. I did have some redness afterwards, which was expected, but my entire jaw and double chin area was swollen for about 4 days. I marinated myself in EMLA cream to help with the discomfort and itching, and then insisted they dial the laser down the next time. Once turned down, the swelling was significantly reduced, and I was a happier camper. As an additional bonus, I no longer break out on my face where the hairs used to get infected after shaving the suckers. Its pricey, but worth every penny to no longer be traumatized by having a 5 o'clock shadow.

I ramble almost incomprehensively at 5 am when I've been up working all night, so forgive me my lack of literary prowess this morning. *grin*
I'm getting laser as well! Isn't it neat? I do love it. As you say It is expensive... but it's worth every penny.
I've overdue for my third treatment, so its been time to work a lot of overtime so that can happen. I'm looking forward to NEVER having excess facial hair again. *grin*
