Another notch in the doorframe

Well not a literal notch since I rent, but another day in which I went to the gym and worked my tuchus off. :) I made it up to eleven laps--that's up and back for each lap, or 22 pool lengths. Its 1/4 mile plus some, and I have to say I'm rather proud of myself for having accomplished the task, and completed it in a half hour. After a short break I was back in the pool to use the pool weights and do toning exercises. For those of you who aren't familiar with pool weights, they are a resistance tool looking like freeweights, but with foam disks instead of heavy iron weights. The larger and floatier the foam disks, the harder the workout. Those suckers look wussy, but actually give a great workout. With them, I can tone my arms, shoulders, upper and lower abdominals, buns, and the ever present challenge, the love handles. What I love about swimming is the fact that it gives a great whole body workout, is aerobic (particularly if I do the butterfly), is low impact and easy on my joints, and the best of all--I don't get sweaty! :D

As a nice bonus for my week of effort, the scale rewarded me with 210, so I'm back to my lowest point before the ground was effectively pulled from beneath me. If the trend continues, I'll actually FINALLY be making more ground on the magical 100s. The day the scale gives me a one as the first digit of my weight will be a banner day. Now, three more to go until the next bear--the purple bear which will be particularly welcome since purple is my favourite colour.
