If laughing burns calories

A new study shows that laughter burns a modest amount of calories. I hope thats true, because if so, I burned at least a happy meal's worth last night. It started when I was out with my daughter and we got off on a riff of really REALLY lame pirate jokes. (I.E. Where does a pirate like to vacation? Aaaaaaaaruba!)
From there the fun continued at work, with all sorts of stupid jokes and deadpan comments. When one of the other nurses was looking for Julie, a third nurse on the floor, I replied that she was down the hall...flossing her toes. A quick trip to the ICU for monitoring elctrodes meant we could apply them to our shoes and riverdance in the halls--so what if we can't dance. Its a good thing the aide didn't have a camera, because she wanted one when she walked by the nurse's station to see three of us dancing in a circle. One nurse had two different electrodes, and when she removed one, it left adhesive that stuck to the floor as she walked. I told her she sounded like she was walking in an x-rated movie theatre. *grin* It all helped make the night go by more quickly with onlt 7 patients to care for, though answering call bells without giggling was a challenge at times.

Not soon enough for me, but its looking like a year or so while immigration finishes their end of this. I'm going to take my CDN board exams in October to get my nursing license so I can show them I'll be self supporting immediately. That ought to count for something. *grin*
