Investment
Baines and Ernst, Fidelity, Schwab...investments sound like a great deal, and I'll soon be in a position where I can actually make my money work for me for a change. Its an enticing thought, but I'm not comfortable with a ton of risk, AND I want to be sure my investments are supporting socially conscious businesses rather than just greasing the corrupt corporate gristmill. Additionally, no one wants to let me invest what I could afford, which is $xx/biweekly...they all want a huge lump sum that I simply don't have right now. Whats a gal to do? Someday I know I'll want to retire, and if I rely on savings alone I'll be working until I'm 108 before I can even think about retiring. *chuckling* I guess its time to pick up a copy of Mother Jones or the Utne Reader and see what ads are present for socially conscious investment firms. (Wait...ignore Baines and Ernst--they aren't an investment firm at all! They are a debt consolidation company and the only debt I need to considate are a few zillion student loans--those will be handled through VSAC, the originating loan company.)
