Signal? What signal?

For the most part I am happy with my cell phone service--my provider has started GSM service and I now get pretty good cell service in most areas. Some spots in Vermont are radio signal black holes and I don't expect to ever get service there, but I work down in Springfield and get squat for signal. I have a coworker with an AT&T cell phone and she gets an excellent signal...the same goes for another with a Verizon cellular phone. I'm going to have to look into different companies anyhow as my eldest leaving for Pennsylvania will need a phone and Unicel does not provide any service in that state. Either she'll be getting her own contract with some other company, or I'll switch companies and piggyback her onto my contract. Has anyone else had any particularly good or bad experiences with different cell companies?

You should check into Virgin Prepaid cell phones.... I got mine at Target. You can get a variety of phones with all sorts of features. You can either buy cards to refill minutes, or they have a feature that will hook into a Visa/Visa Check Card where you just put in how much you want to add to your account. I've found that when I got a plan, I never used all the minutes each month and was paying about $50. With the Prepaid thing, I buy minutes that don't expire. The rate is .25 a minute for the first 10 minutes of each day and then .10 a minute for every minute after. So once you get past that first 10 minutes of each day (not each call) your saving money. There's no roaming or long distance charges, which is where most of those other services really clean up. Then again, if she's gonna be a chatterbox on it, you might want to check out Verison....
