Thunderstorms rolling in

Its time to switch to battery power! I'm outside, so the laptop isn't plugged into a surge protector.
There is a good thunderstorm on its way in--loud thunderclaps in the distance, and the pittapat of rain falling from the roof onto the steps has just begun. Thunderstorms are a sign of change--change in season since they often come in spring (but tell that to the thunderstorm that came through last January), change in weather pattern, and occasionally a change in mental state, as they deeply relax me. OK, they deeply relax me when I am in a safe location. *grin* My car was hit by lightning a few years back as I crossed a mountain top road, so I do get a bit jumpy if I'm out in the open and they come up suddenly.

I rather need the renewal brought on by thunder and spring. The winter has been long, hard, and very cold (we had no heat all winter and made do with electric blankets and space heaters in the bedrooms), so warm weather feels like heaven. Unfortunately its been a long cool spring as well, with only about three days above 60 degrees F thus far, however the gradual trend is now increasing. Its time for a change in housing situation as well--this neighbourhood is extremely bad, with rampant drug dealing and cars screaming past in nocturnal drag races. Its time for an apartment in a place that is not condemnable, with solid floors, and a heating system my budget will permit. Out current apartment is part heat sink, part sieve, so the fuel bill in winter came to well over $4000 just to keep it 58F--I want a place with heat included in the rent! Finally, I need the emotional and spiritual renewal of spring and summer, with warmth, the budding and blossoming of the plants and trees, and weather suitable for hiking, camping, swimming, and generally being an active person outdoors.
